Valentine’s Auction (on Instagram @thelesserbear): Because I want this year to be another year of taking action, I have decided to auction off another quilt. You might remember the Quilts for Refugees Auction from last year… I have been wracking my brain lately for what would be the best organization to donate to this time. I have been listening to Busted: America's Poverty Myths a podcast by @onthemedia and am now reading Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond, and teaching at a high school in a high poverty area - so housing is on my mind. I am thinking about all the aspects of housing and their implications on the lives of those who struggle to achieve or maintain safe and affordable housing.
As such, I will be auctioning this heart quilt* with a starting bid of $50 + tax and shipping. Any amount that this quilt sells for, above $50, will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, an amazing organization that works with families to, “build better lives for themselves and their children.”

Here are the rules: Bidding will start now, and will go until Friday the 27th at 10pm. Bidding starts at $50 and subsequent bids should be made in increments of at least $5. The winning bidder will be contacted via IG message at the close of bidding and will be responsible for applicable taxes and shipping. Payment must be made within 24 hours of close of bidding, or the quilt will sell to the next bidder. Note* this quilt is not naturally dyed, as most @thelesserbear quilts are. It is made of denim, with appliquéd cotton hearts in grey, moss green, light pink and hot pink, bound with cotton in the same colors and hand quilted with cotton pearl thread in shades of pink.
